Big Bend National Park Engagement

A few weeks ago I got together with one of my good friends and fellow wedding photographer Heather and her fiance to celebrate their engagement. A few months earlier I casually mentioned we should get together in Austin and do the standard engagement shoot. But they're adventurous and unafraid of a road trip and insisted I hop in the car with them to Big Bend National Park for their session. I was a bit nervous (cause I'd never been there before) because I like to plan, plan, plan and plan some more. We approached the trip with no real agenda and just kinda went where we felt like for a couple days. It was so much fun! Our first stop was in Terlingua, Texas to check out the old ghost town. It creeped me out, but such a tiny little community had so much beauty and I felt like I was on the Mad Max Fury Road movie set or something.

After a little browsing in the gift store, and trying our best not to buy everything, we got back in the car and headed to Big Bend. It's so crazy how big everything is out there, we drove for a good hour in the park before we found the spot we thought we were looking for. So naturally when you don't plan things, but kinda plan things, your plan doesn't always turn out right. We wanted to see the Window Trail, but we went to the wrong trail, but it was beautiful anyway. The cactus was blooming and surprisingly green, it was breathtaking.
